A couple of interesting articles about family. First up, a crazy story about a 25-year old woman who is suing her parents for more than $75,000 for an injury she sustained on a trip to surprise her mother on her birthday. The thing that surprised me the most? On a related survey, only 87% of over 50,000 respondents said they would definitely not sue their parents in a similar situation.
The second story comes from the United Kingdom's Daily Mail. A study of nearly 5,000 people showed that "A typical working parent spends just 19 minutes a day looking after their children." A reader posted this comment: "I didn't have children for them to be brought up by someone else."

Gosh, come to think of it...I've had this lingering cough from smoke inhalation. Yes, I remember...there was a teddy bear in the light fixture down in the basement. Talk about bringing these two stories together! Our parents weren't directly caring for us, and one of the boys in our family threw this plush animal (okay, he was actually ratty, but stuffed) into the light fixture and started a fire. Yes...I have been coughing off and on for the last 23 years or so...that must be it! I guess the next step is to contact my lawyer - parents, look out! ~J in the UK
That bear was evidently better than any ball available at that time & place. I don't remember which one of us made that fateful throw, but every once in a while I'll smell something burning in just such a way as to remind me of that bear.
I'm responsible for burning that bear. He deserved it! Hopefully Josh received the spanking for that one, and if I was on my game that day, I'm sure he did. J in the UK- I thinnk your cough has more to do with your incessant smoking. But I'll back you in your lawsuit for 25%.

That sounds good, bear burner. And remember that when little one #2 is getting a spanking 'cause big sister said she did it. Hmm.... Mischevious things... Dos, you in for 25%? If figure my coming up w/ the idea gives me the right to 50%. Besides, it's only chivalrous of you to take the lower cut and let your sister have the rest. Maybe I'll buy you both something nice as a victory gift. Any ideas on the lawyer we should use? Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. ;-)
