...she warned that abortion might soon "join obesity and smoking as unacceptable behavior in polite society."and...
"The trouble with thinking in terms of zero abortions is that you make abortion so hateful you do the antichoicers' work for them. You accept that the zygote/embryo/fetus has some kind of claim to be born."and one more:
"I do not think terminating a pregnancy is wrong. A potential person is not a person, any more than an acorn is an oak tree. I don't think women should have to give birth just because a sperm met an egg. I think women have the right to consult their own wishes, needs, and capacities and produce only loved, wanted children they can care for--or even no children at all. I think we would all be better off as a society if we respected women's ability to make these decisions for themselves and concentrated on caring well for the born. There is certainly enough work there to keep us all very busy."Personally, I think we would all be better off as a society if we took responsibility for our own actions, and thought of the potential consequences - good or bad - of our decisions before making them.
If you have the time, you should really read the whole article.

"I think we would all be better off as a society if we respected women's ability to make these decisions for themselves?" Hmm...since they do not want the pregnancy after they did want the sex, wouldn't that suggest that even they don't "respect" their own ability to make decisions? Or just some of them? (Of course, I realize that there are those unfortunate exceptions to this rule who have been brutalized and had no choice to make in their getting pregnant - clearly I am not referring to those. I still believe the child should not pay with his life...adoption is SUCH a gift!) Life is complex, lady. You make a choice, there will be repercussions of some kind. Don't let that child (who may be the size of a grain of sand but can still have a heart beating) pay for your not-so-fabulous choice. ~J in the UK
J in the UK...
So do you think it's okay to abort if the conception is a result of rape??
The horrific event doesn't diminish the fact that the child is a human being??
Just something to think about.

Hey, Noah!
What you're referring to is exactly why I wrote this:

Does that make sense? no - abortion is never the right choice in my belief. ~J in the UK
Sorry, sometimes I can be dense:)
That makes perfect sense:)
Not dense at all, Noah. In my rambling way, I often use too many words and one might not get my point. Thanks for having me clarify! BTW, I'm thankful that J&T have you guys as friends - you are blessings from the Lord to them! To God be the glory!!!
God's design for how some people come into this world seems horrific to us sometimes, but there are many times that He is glorified far greater through "horrific" experiences and tough situations/choices. A "product" of rape, an "unwanted" child, or an orphan can have such a neat testimony to what God's love is and what adoption into His family is about. Again, thank the Lord that He is sovereign.
Amen to whomever wrote that!!!!
