Guess the Source

I mentioned a while back how I've long been a fan of quotes. Well, in a shameless attempt to get some more interaction on my blog, let's see if anybody can guess the name of the person who authored the following quote:
"I readily acknowledge that we ought to value the glory of God more highly than our salvation"

Piper or Edwards??

Could it be from the book you are currently reading?

Tim wins the award for the first to guess Piper. But he's incorrect. Come on, people, that's too easy. The quote reeks of Piper, and I am reading a Piper book right now, but it did not come from him. Nor did it come from Edwards. But my plan worked! I can't remember the last time I had 5 comments on a post. (Yeah, I know I'm pathetic.) Anyway, with Piper (& Edwards) off the board, I'll give you all one more shot. Yeah, even you, Noah.

Okay, Noah, you got it. But I'm not telling you which one of your past 5 guesses is the right one. ;)

It's got to be my hero CJ. Josh and I share a love of 3 things: CJ Mahaney, Sioux County and Duke basketball.

Sorry to disappoint you Michael, but it's not Mahaney. And I'm sure CJ would appreciate me clearing up anything that may appear to link his name, Duke basketball, and the word "love."

Taken straight from Mahaney's bio at monergism.com:

"I hate the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys and Duke basketball. As someone born in Washington D.C. who is a Nationals, Redskins and Maryland basketball fan, this is only right and appropriate. Please don't misunderstand, I don't hate any individuals on these teams, only the organizations. And I can support this position theologically."

Anyway, the correct answer is John Calvin. I came across the quote in his commentary on the book of Titus.
